What about those metal tie bands? Like you see hanging garage doors? I'd imagine the epoxy putty will vibrate and break free.

I used some large hose clamps on a Cavalier once. It worked until we sold it.

I used the old heat shield mounting location to hook up my janky exhaust. Unsurprisingly it didn’t last. But a few tubes of pig putty put that to rest.

Some Home Depot’s will let you rent them, maybe $ 30 for 4 hours

I never have welded before, & most up here are not renting tools out because of COVID.

As someone that can rehearse Queen’s greatest hits CD verbatim, how have I not seen any of their music videos?

That makes sense. I had a guy who had to come and weld some repairs to a handrail pretty recently, and he let me play around with his machine. Flux core wire was pretty easy to work with for a beginner (AKA gasless MIG welding but it’s not really the same) . Much easier than true gas shielded MIG imo. I would do my own exhaust in a sleeve or hangers after playing with it for 20 mins.
